Siesta Key is located off the west Florida coast in the Gulf of Mexico and is easy to get to since it is so close to the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Siesta Key is well known for its beautiful beach on the warm Gulf waters. Siesta Key is an eight-mile-long barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico joined to Sarasota by two bridges and is located approximately 55 miles south of Tampa on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Founded in 1846, there are now approximately 15,000 full time residents of Siesta Key with another 18,000 “snowbirds” who flock here for the mild winter months.
It is primarily built of residential and vacation homes along with a handful of stores, restaurants and galleries. The most popular way to spend a vacation here is just to relax on the beach or at your vacation home and enjoy the ocean breeze while reading a favorite book.
